ARE NEW PATIENT APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE?

At this time, new patient appointments are limited to second opinion evaluations and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments. Second opinion patients are prioritized on the waitlist list for Dr. Gupta to function as your primary rheumatologist and to start office- based treatments. Please refer to the Second Opinions page for more information. Appointments may be requested by completing the Request a Consultation form.

 

FOR WHICH INSURANCE PLANS IS DR. GUPTA A PARTICIPATING PROVIDER?

Medicare (Original/Federal only). Please note that Dr. Gupta is out-of-network for Medicare Advantage, Medicare PPO, Medicare HMO, Medi-Cal and all other plans.

Please confirm with Dr. Gupta's office that she participates with your plan. There have been many changes to insurance plans recently with outdated and inaccurate participating provider lists.

DOES DR. GUPTA OFFER INFORMAL TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS IF I AM UNSURE ABOUT SCHEDULING AN INITIAL CONSULTATION?

No. Due to the high volume of inquiries about Dr. Gupta's unique approach, information is provided on the website describing Dr. Gupta's practice philosophy, conditions treated and various therapeutic options offered. Treatment regimens are highly individualized and cannot be determined outside a formal consultation. Unfortunately, for these reasons, inquiry requests of this nature cannot be returned.

WILL DR. GUPTA FUNCTION AS MY RHEUMATOLOGIST IF I WANT TO BE TREATED WITH CONVENTIONAL MEDICATIONS ONLY?

No. Dr. Gupta's practice philosophy is to minimize the use of conventional medications as much as possible through the use of complementary therapies. For this reason, Dr. Gupta cannot function as your primary rheumatologist but does offer her expertise as a consultant. 

CAN I SEE DR. GUPTA FOR A CONSULTATION IF I HAVE A CONDITION NOT ON THE LIST?

Yes. In these cases, Dr. Gupta provides a comprehensive second opinion, offers recommendations for integrative therapies and answers questions regarding conventional medications that may have been recommended by another physician.  Complementary therapies may be offered, but Dr. Gupta cannot function as your primary rheumatologist for a condition that is not on the list.

DOES DR. GUPTA PRESCRIBE NARCOTICS FOR PAIN CONDITIONS?

No. Patients who seek out Dr. Gupta for pain management are those looking for safe and effective alternatives to narcotics.

WILL DR. GUPTA FUNCTION AS MY GENERAL/PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN?

No. Dr. Gupta offers complementary therapies only to help support general wellness. Patients are advised to have an established general/primary care physican. 

IS PAYMENT DUE AT THE TIME OF MY VISIT?

Yes. If Dr. Gupta is a participating provider for your insurance plan, your deductible, co-payment, coinsurance, and non-covered services are due at the time of service. If Dr. Gupta is out-of-network for your plan, full payment of services is due at the time of your visit, and you will be provided with a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement of any applicable benefits. Payment can be made in the form of credit card, Venmo, or cash. 

WHAT IS THE APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION POLICY?

Patients are required to provide at least 24-hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling by calling 424-259-2889 during normal business hours. The late cancellation fee is $125. The no-show/same day cancellation fee is the full amount of the visit. There are no exceptions. This policy reflects the size and structure of Dr. Gupta's practice. 

WHAT SHOULD I DO IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY?

Dr. Gupta is available through her answering service 24 hours/7 days for urgent matters. In case of an emergency please call 911 to go to the nearest emergency room.
